Hero
A downloadable game for Windows and Linux
About the Game
This game was developed from scratch in just 12 hours as part of a game jam challenge.
It is a short narrative-driven 2D experience consisting of three levels, each one offering a completely different gameplay perspective and mechanic.
The story is not told through cutscenes or dialogue, but through gameplay, environment, and player roles.

- Space → Jump (HOLD to higher jump)

Level 3 – The Inspector

How to Play
Level 1 – The Path Forward
You play as the main character.
This level is a classic 2D platforming experience. Your objective is simple: move forward and reach the activator at the end of the level.
- Jump across platforms
- Avoid enemies
- Avoid falling
- Reach the end
Win Condition: Reach the activator at the end of the level.
At first, everything feels normal. The environment is alive, bright, and hopeful — giving the feeling that you are doing the right thing.
Activating the device, however, triggers a catastrophic event.
Level 2 – The Enemy’s Perspective
You now play as the enemy.
This level represents a distorted memory — a “what if” scenario that exists only in the enemy’s mind after the disaster has already happened.
Your goal is to stop the player character before they reach the end.
- Move horizontally to chase the player
- Shoot to kill the player
- Navigate a destroyed and unstable environment
Win Condition: Kill the player before they reach the end of the level.
This level is not about good versus evil. It represents regret, guilt, and the belief that things could have been different.
Level 3 – The Inspector
You play as The Inspector.
The Inspector is not a real character. It represents the main character’s conscience after the catastrophe.
You no longer control a character directly. Instead, you manipulate the environment itself.
- Click and hold platforms
- Drag platforms to reposition them
- Try to prevent the player from falling
Win Condition: Guide the player safely to the end of the level without letting them fall.
This level symbolizes denial and self-justification — the attempt to fix the past without truly facing it.
Story Summary
The game tells its story without cutscenes or heavy narration.
At first, the player believes they are a hero, moving toward a clear and noble goal. The environment supports this belief — everything feels correct and alive.
However, the activation at the end of the first level causes a disaster that destroys the city.
The second level shows the same event through the enemy’s broken perspective. The enemy is not evil — they are someone consumed by guilt, imagining a reality where they could have stopped what happened.
The third level reveals the truth.
The Inspector is a manifestation of the main character’s own mind, desperately trying to rewrite events and escape responsibility.
The game’s message:
What you see is not always the full truth. Sometimes the real enemy is the version of yourself you refuse to question.
